Daily Journal - July 1,2,3,4, 2006
Saturday, July 1, 2006 - I'm planning to walk around the block as
soon as I finish updating this. I already watered the big flower
garden out front. It's supposed to get to 92 degrees today. Oh boy!
I'm back from my walk. I decided if I was going to walk, I'd better
do it sooner rather than later. Just finished watering ALL the
flowers. Andrew and Jarrett's pond garden out back looks
gorgeous. It's amazing what a little bit of work can do to transform
okay into fabulous!! (Yes, I'll take a picture.)
Last night, Bob and I went out to Hughes to play a little golf. On the
way to the third hole, I was "talking" to my driver and telling her that
she could do BETTER than she did on the first two holes.
Apparently, she didn't like that because as I was verbal abusing
my driver, she hit in the mouth and made my tooth bleed.
However, on the third hole (one of my favorites), I hit the ball as far
as I've ever hit it and got very close to the green on the left side.
So, I guess our discussion had a positive effect in the end. Plus, I
have no bruising or soreness today!!! Fun on the golf course with
Donna and her clubs!!! Better go take care of business. bye, djb

This picture of Andrew and Jarrett has so much happy
boyfun in it. Andrew's holding on to his red popscicle.
Notice the owie on his left elbow -- always had an owie.
Sunday, July 2, 2006 - It's raining this morning. I didn't think it was supposed to rain, I thought it was going to be "scattered." At least, I
was able to get my walk around the block in before the light rains came. Whenever it's nice, I will walk around the block.
Yesterday, Gayla, Zoe and Hopey came over. We were going to the Flea Market, but it just seemed too hot to do that, so we just hung
around the pool. Well, first we went into Elburn to Alice's Place for a little food and the girls had ice cream cones dipped in cherry and
chocolate. It was pretty hot, so they melted fairly quickly. That's why I had to get the pictures taken fast before they disappeared.
Karen is going to send me a picture of the 4 baby robins that hatched in a tree near their house. Of course, mine never made it.
There's a rough, wild crowd in our yard at night....foxes, raccoons, deer, possum, coyotes - double yikes!
Someone in one of the nearby subdivisions had a fireworks display last night. We could see it from the deck - it was totally awesome.
Kudos to them, whoever they were. It had to have been done by a professional because it was just that good!!
Better go take care of business. Happy 2nd of July! see ya later, djb

Stargazer in Andrew and Jarrett's pond
garden - that's where the girls are sitting
Zoe and Hope - notice the contrast between the girls sitting
NEXT to each other and looking sweet and calm and then
Andrew and Jarrett - the rough-house brothers! funny!!!

Bryar went out in the woods with her dad, Uncle Jake
and Uncle Brian to pick morel mushrooms. Oh my!!!!
Monday, July 3, 2006 - It's very funny that today seems like a holiday day, but it really isn't. There was an editorial in the Chicago
Tribune about people wanting to make the Fourth of July celebration the FIRST MONDAY in July. I hope sanity prevails and they don't
screw around with the 4th. It should be sacrosanct. It's the birthday of our country. God Bless America!! right on!
My advice is to read the Declaration of Independence (independence from Great Britain) on line. I found a good place to read it and
see the original. It's located at: http://memory.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/r?ammem/bdsdcc:@field(DOCID+@lit(bdsdcc02101))
It is so profound and thought provoking that I think our government "leaders" should be required to read it. This is what our founders
were trying to get away from!!!! Somewhere their intentions seem to have gotten lost in the shuffle of BIG PAC money and BIG OIL
money, special interests, blah, blah, blah --- only millionaires can get elected, etc. It's all wacky like Alice in Wonderland land.
There probably won't be a lot of celebrating the 3rd of July outside today because we've had rain, and them some rain and then some
more rain, and I think some new rain is coming. It's kind of rainy here today. Rumor has it that it's supposed to get sunny this
afternoon. I guess we'll see about that. gotta go buy some chlorine. see ya later, djb

Bryar winking - she's been doing that since she was
a little munchkin.

Aunt Donna gave her.
Tuesday, July 4, 2006 - So, it's the 4th of July. I walked around
the block, I put out the stars and stripes, went to the grocery store
and now I'm on here. I was trying to find my patriotic music CD
but I'm having no success - so you'll just have to hum quietly to
yourself. la la la - la la la - la la la la........
I like this picture of Andrew and Jarrett with their fishing poles.
After all these years, I still haven't been able to get rid of the old
poles. They're still hanging in the garage.
Right now, I'm going to go out and plant a couple of yellow day
lilies over by our neighbor's mailbox. It's right on the edge of our
yard. I've been trying to keep it up for the past few years. For
some reason, this year, it got over-run with weedy grasses. Now,
I have to take care of business so it looks nice. It's one of those
things that when you see it, you think, "Oh yeah, I'm goIng to take
care of that" --- then you forget until you see it again!!
Better get to work. Have a great 4th of July. It's gorgeous here
(the rain has stopped and it's going to be 83 degrees). bye, djb
