Daily Journal - June 16,17,18,19, 2006
Friday, June 16, 2006 - Happy Birthday to Hopey.  That picture below on the right was taken (I think) on her first birthday, last year.  I
like it because she has frosting on her face.  That's pretty darn cute - the "frosted" look.

When I was going through some of Grandma Burkholder's pictures, I found this one below of Jarrett, Andrew and Snowball, the cat.  I
had given this picture to Grandpa Burkholder for Father's Day one year in a frame that had a bubble that said, "Love ya."  Also, pretty
darn cute!   It's one of those
PERFECT summer days.  I love when it's kind of humid and a bit windy and it's going to get really, really
HOT.  Love it, love it.  Right now, I have to go outside and water the flowers before it gets too hot.  In fact, it's getting later and later as I
speak.  Last night, I doused myself in bug spray and starting pulling out the dead tulip stalks.  That was extremely fun.

No matter what I do on this website, it always takes me an HOUR.  Isn't that hilarious?!   I did wake up very early this morning - like 5
am.  Even BEFORE the sun rose.  Now, that's early.  I'll probably be back a little later for some chit chat.  see ya, djb

later 6/16 - I lightened that article below up a little bit.  You can see the newspaper crisscross stuff on the pictures.  That's the
reason, I didn't put it in here last time because it looks kind of weird.  Plus, I really didn't say exactly what they wrote.  It was a little
more involved.  I think  he distilled it pretty well.

It's VERY hot outside but the pool is too cold to get into yet.  One of these days, it'll warm up sufficiently for me.  Maybe after we get
the heater hooked up....  haha

Better go.  see ya later, djb  P.S.  It's 88 degrees right now!!!! Oh boy!

Saturday, June 17, 2006 - Bob just called me a little while ago.  He just got back to O'Hare from Florida by way of Memphis.  They sat
on the runway
(I don't use the word tarmac that sounds too "street" for me) for an hour.  It was pretty HOT and HUMID in Florida.  duh, it
is June which equals summer.  I'm still puzzled why anyone would go to Florida in JUNE on purpose to play golf in the AFTERNOON!

Last evening, I went in to water the flowers and hanging plants at Andrew and Jarrett's grave.  Everything looks so gorgeous!!  Jarrett's
tree has taken a turn for the best.  It looks so healthy.  Remember last year, I had to dig it up and bring it home and treat it with TLC until
it was able to go back and try it again.  That's the tree I dug out of my flower bed.  I'm so glad it's going to make it.  God bless Andrew.
God bless Jarrett.  God bless all the children in heaven.  We're going to 1 picnic and maybe 3 parties.  Mercy!  see ya later, djb

Sunday, June 18, 2006 - HAPPY FATHER'S DAY - It's kind of rainy, cloudy and humidy (made-up word) today.  As I mentioned earlier
today, it also rained on Mother's Day. hmmmm.  very interesting.  Plus, it's Paul McCartney's 64th birthday.  hmmm.

We had a nice time yesterday at Hopey's birthday party, but since Bob was an hour late getting home, we just went directly to DeKalb.
It was very warm to start with, then it started to get cooler as the front moved through around 7:30 or so.  I'm running late today.  I
have to get some more pictures in here but thought I'd start with these.  see ya later, djb

Monday, June 19, 2006 - They keep yakking about rain.  Regardless of the
precipitation that may or may not occur, I really have to mow the grass.

Bob had a great time playing golf with Kevin yesterday.  Once they got over to the
golf course, it stopped raining and the sun came out.  Of all the places to be on
Father's Day, it seems only right to be at Hughes Creek.  Kevin was on the golf
team with Andrew and he was in Jarrett's class.  His mom used to say that I
was the first person they met when they moved to Elburn.  David and JD were on
my baseball team in 1994 - so Kevin and Jarrett were both 6.  That was a fun
time.  I was totally committed to the 8-9 year old baseball team.  We had the
best team!  Hey, I think I'll put a baseball picture on the Home page.  Good idea.
Gotta go.  Gotta mow.  bye for now, djb
Up on the top is
a closeup of the
rose.  I've never
been able to
grow roses, but
this year I
decided to give
it one more try.
They're so
gorgeous.

On the right is
the purple
clematis that's
growing in the
front flower bed.
