Daily Journal - June 18, 2009
Thursday, June 18, 2009 - All of a sudden, this
severe weather outbreak has me completely freaking
me? What if today is the last day of my life? What
would I do if I knew, how do I know it isn't.....so many
questions -- so few answers. sigh......
Only God knows the number of our days.
Right now, my Uncle George is dying. It's not one of
those hopeful situations, it's a sad, sad fact. He's had
multiple medical problems for many years but has
always managed to bounce back like the Energizer
bunny. Not this time. God bless him.
Maybe that's why I'm thinking of my own mortality
because my Uncle is facing his. He flew in bomber
planes during World War II and spent at least twenty
years in the Air Force so he's not a wimpy guy. And
plus, he's a BERG. You know, we're tough. Still sad.
It reminds me of the story that was on the news
recently about the lady and her husband who were
supposed to be on that Air France Flight 447 that
crashed but they missed the flight, then she died in a
car accident a week later.
WOW! I just read a ton of comments on The Times
website about the story.
People all over the world LOVE to argue about God,
fate, religion, death, coincidence, etc. Amazed after
reading their comments. The most glaring thing that
popped out from the diverse posts was that every
single person thought their way was the right way, the
only way and anyone who disagreed could hit the
highway. Yikes! Such thinly disguised vitriol.
Not to change the subject, but it's later in the day and
we're still in a severe weather warning situation. Always
reminds me of the hurricane warnings -- by the time
the actual storm occurs, it's almost anticlimactic.
You will NOT believe what I just saw in the back yard!!!
After looking at the photos online, I believe it was a
TURKEY VULTURE. At first, I thought it was a wild
turkey but the way he hung his head down reminded
me of a vulture. So, I thought, hey, maybe it's a
turkey vulture. It is. I'll put some pictures on here so
you can judge for yourself. Holy moly!
The most interesting thing about it was that the other
birds were absolutely berserk - it was a cacophony of
bird twittering (hey, maybe that's how they tweet)! I
briefly checked the pictures on my camera and when I
looked up, he was gone and then it was totally silent.
Our backyard truly is a wildlife refuge!!! The first time I
saw him earlier in the day, he was flying -- more like
soaring -- with his HUGE wingspan. It was quite
impressive.
But I don't really care to have vultures eating carrion in
my back yard. YUCK!!!
Hope you are having a really nice, peaceful and kind
of boring, normal day wherever you are!!!
See ya later with more adventures from the wild, wild
west show out in the country. People say, what next?
But I NEVER say that!!! haha bye, djb
