Daily Journal - June 8 & 9, 2007
Phil, Andrew, Anthony and Jarrett in Carol Stream

in the good old summer time in North Aurora
Saturday, June 9, 2007 - Yesterday, we got a letter from the cemetery
telling us that Jarrett's tree is illegally encroaching on another plot. So,
we're just going to buy the plot next to Jarrett, and if we can't do that
then I'll just cut down the tree. Although, I do suppose I could MOVE it
AGAIN!!!!!!! It totally cracked us up because we knew that I was
pushing the limits.
The cemetery is going to be run by the township now so the rules may
become more stringent - who knows? We totally loved our lease for
the plots which stated that when you drive a motor car in the
cemetery do not use your horn or you might scare the horses!!! We
love that cemetery. It's so peaceful.
I'm probably the most frequent visitor....seeing as how in the
summertime, I go there almost every single day! In fact, I was already
there this morning taking pictures of the bright orange spray paint that
shows where Jarrett's illegal tree is growing.
That tree has been nothing but trouble from the day I found it growing
in my front garden!!! haha Then, after it was in the cemetery for a year,
it had to go to the intensive care unit for trees.
I'm sure Jarrett thinks it's hilarious!!! So do I.
bye. It's a gorgeous day. Have to finish mowing the grass, djb

Here's Hope with her pink gum. She's hilarious!!!
Zoe's bustin' a move on her scooter!
JARRETT'S HIGHLY ILLEGAL EVERGREEN TREE
Friday, June 8, 2007 - You know what's weird? Two
weeks from today, the days will start getting shorter in
length!!! How weird is that?? Summer will be here.
When I saw this picture of Andrew & Jarrett with Phil &
Anthony, it reminded me of all those years when I had low
platelets. My hematologist's office was near Judy's house,
so in the summertime, I'd drop my boys off to hang out with
her boys - they ALWAYS had a great time.
I'd be in Dr. Cohen's office for 8 hours getting gamma
globulin infused into my veins - I always felt so weird
afterwards. But it kept me alive until I found the "wacky
medicine" (aka dexamethasone).
The other day, I was telling someone about the time I had
ZERO PLATELETS. Zero - none - nada. Apparently, I did
have 2,000.... which they had to count by hand.
One, two, three, four.......two thousand. Remember, you
need at least 250,000 to 400,000 platelets. If you get too
low, you bruise. Then, you bleed. yuk!
In August, it will be 12 years since I was diagnosed with
ITP (idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura). When you
have it, that's all you can think about.
However, when you go into remission, you don't want to
even THINK about it because it's so scary and strange.
It's ironic that I always thought I was the one who was
going to die. And here I am. Imagine that. djb
