Remembering Andrew & Jarrett
My dear friend, Ginny, wrote this poem
for the boys in 2004. I typed it over the
picture of the boys' heart I drew in the
sand right next to the Pacific Ocean in
Kauai on March 3, 2004.
March 3, 2009 - Six years since 2003 - Six years
equals 72 months equals 2,192 days since I've seen Andrew
and Jarrett alive. How unbelievable is that. Two thousand
one hundred and ninety two days -- one sad, heartbreaking
and pitiful day at a time. That's incredible.
For some reason though, I don't feel like using the black
background any more. I do like the way the pictures "pop out"
on it but I feel less dark at least for now. You never know
when the darkness will return. I never know. It just comes
whenever it wants.... I know the boys don't want tears.
I put the photos of the flowers that were sent when they died
onto the slide show web page - they're so gorgeous!!!!
Bob and I are going to Rosita's in DeKalb tonight to meet
some of Andrew and Jarrett's friends around 5:30 - 6 o'clock.
The invitation is on Facebook. Colleen put it on there. God
bless her for doing that for us. We so appreciate it!!!
My brother, Dennis (aka Uncle Bergy) is having major surgery
this morning on his back - in fact, it just started (7:30 am). I
wanted to go and support Avis while he's getting fixed up but
my eye is just bothering me too much. I thought I was
supposed to be distracted today but the "best laid plans...."
If I hear anything, I'll let you know how he's doing. God bless
Uncle Bergy and the doctors and nurses caring for him.
God bless Andrew. God bless Jarrett. God bless the saintly
boys - forever in my heart. bye, djb

Jarrett, Donna, Andrew, Bob - Christmas 1989
Jarrett, Donna, Andrew, Bob - February 2003
These two pictures fascinate me because we're all in the same position in each photo - approximately 13 years separate the two
moments in time. Who knew that two weeks after Andrew's 17th birthday, they'd both be dead? Not me.
Aunt Diane created this video on Animoto - remembering Andrew and Jarrett. It's so awesome!!!

ANDREW. JARRETT.
Where are they?
Where'd they go---
I'd like to know.
Where are those boys of mine?
Except for their last
fateful day,
they always came home on time.
Now, they're gone---
far, far away
to a place I can only imagine.
No forwarding address.
No Zip Code.
Deceased.
RETURNED TO SENDER.
